Athens, Ohio, 1950s

Even if Ohio Memory hadn’t explicitly given the location of this photo as Athens, Ohio, the road signs would have led us to the corner of Court and Union streets in Athens, outside the gateway to Ohio University. What Ohio Memory isn’t so sure of is the date, but we’re betting the carspotters out there can help us with that. What do you see here?

Of all the old photos of Athens we’ve seen, this might be one of the coolest (second maybe to this one). Not only does it show period cars and dress, but it shows traffic flowing both ways on Court Street and shows that US 33/50 used to run right through the uptown area.
